Use this fixture to either replace 50 watt MR16 bulbs in low voltage halogen lights or use with a new 4" housing for a new installation.
With the same diameter of an MR16, this unit will fit in your existing trim. But since it is longer than a standard bulb, it is able to have more LEDs and produce more light.
The idea isn't to replicate an MR16, but to utilize the extra space within a recessed housing to allow for a brighter bulb.
Using 8 Nichia super bright diodes, this fixture draws a total of 8.25 watts. Beam spread is 60 degrees and color temperature is 2700k. It is dimmable from 100% down to 5%. CRI is 91.
We tested this side by side with an FNV MR16 (50 watt with a 60 degree beam spread).
At an 8.5 foot ceiling height, this LED unit actually tested with virtually the same amount of foot candles as the halogen bulb.
So now you can have a very useable LED light source, but in as small as a 4 inch or even 3 inch housing.
